The whole compound is yours for the week — main house, guest house, game house, the dock, the fire pits, all of it. No shared walls, no other guests, no splitting the group across three rentals in town. One property, one gathering.
Two full kitchens, a hot tub, two fireplaces, quality bedding in every room — and just outside, 150 feet of clean, calm shoreline, a boat at the dock, and the Adirondacks in every direction. The kind of place where the coffee is good and the water is cold and nobody wants to leave.

Eleven bedrooms across three houses mean everyone gets a real bed and a door that closes — the whole family together, with space to spread out. Gather everyone in the great room by day; send each branch of the family off to its own quiet corner at night.

Downstairs kitchen and living space with an upstairs full of bedrooms — room for a whole second household. The camp is fully winterized, so the Guest House is available every season.

On Friends Lake
Friends Lake is private-access-only — one of the cleanest, calmest lakes in New York State — and Camp Sunnyside sits right on it, with 150 feet of your own shoreline, a sandy shallow area made for kids, a dock, and a waterfront deck for the long evenings. Swim off the dock, take the boat out at sunset, or float in water clear enough to see the bottom.
Four seasons, one camp
Summer
The classic Camp Sunnyside week. Days on the dock, the boat out on the lake, paddleboards and kayaks, sunset cruises, and campfires with the whole family. This is the reunion everyone means to have and never quite plans — the one where the grandkids catch their first fish. Summer stays are one-week stays, Sunday to Sunday.
Fall
When the leaves turn, Friends Lake empties out and the camp gets even better. Bring a smaller group for a long weekend of hikes, foliage, and evenings around the fire. Shoulder-season stays don’t have to be a full week — ask us about a long weekend.

Ski Gore Mountain by day, come home to two fireplaces and the hot tub by night. Ice fishing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling are all right here. A four-season base for a group that wants the Adirondacks in the snow. Shorter winter stays welcome — just ask.
Spring
The lake wakes up, the camp is quiet, and rates run lower than peak season. A good time for a smaller group or a shakedown getaway before the summer rush.

Camp Sunnyside is the greatest place on earth for my family and I. We’ve spent decades at Friends Lake… it’s peaceful, beautiful, and a real treasure of the Adirondacks. You can water ski, fish, swim, or float in the crystal clear water. The property is immaculate and the houses give you everything you need to feel at home.
Camp Sunnyside was the perfect place for our extended family vacation! The lake is beautiful and clear and there was a nice shallow, sandy area for the kids to play in the water. An amazing home on Friends Lake, perfect for any vacation. Our family had the most wonderful time. Fan favorites: the paddleboards, kayaks, ping pong table, and jacuzzi. We rented the boat for a day to water ski, tube, and take a sunset cruise — perfect for all ages. More than we could have imagined.

Tell us your dates and who’s coming, and you’ll get a clear, custom quote — usually within a day. Summer rates generally run $2,500–$3,500/night; September–May runs $850–$1,750/night.
Yes. Summer stays are booked as one-week stays, Sunday to Sunday. In the off-season (fall, winter, and spring), shorter stays and long weekends are welcome — just ask.
Yes, Camp Sunnyside is a four-season camp, fully winterized and open year-round — including the Guest House. Summer is for the lake and the boat; fall for the foliage and the fire pits; winter for skiing Gore Mountain, the hot tub, and the fireplaces; spring for a quiet early-season getaway.
We’re a pet-free camp, which keeps the houses comfortable and allergy-friendly for every family that stays.
This is a private family camp, and we ask guests to treat it like one — no events or parties beyond your own group, and a little care for our quiet lakefront neighbors.
Once your dates are confirmed and the rental agreement is signed, we’ll send simple payment instructions. Most guests pay the deposit and balance by secure bank transfer; check and Venmo are also welcome. Half is due at booking — this deposit is the booking prepayment, not a separate security deposit — with the balance due 90 days before arrival.

Very. The main house is single-story, there’s a crib, a pack ’n play, and a high chair, and the lake has a sandy, shallow swim area made for little ones.
Camp Sunnyside is in Chestertown, NY, about an hour north of Albany International Airport (45 minutes from Floyd Bennett Memorial in Glens Falls, about 1h15 from the Albany-Rensselaer train). A car is highly recommended — rideshare isn’t reliable out here.
